Fall Is On The Way

Fall Is On The Way

I can not believe August is nearly over and fall in on the way. We have been at our seasonal site in New Hampshire for three months now. Unfortunately, the weather has been either extremely hot or very rainy. The rain brings the biting bugs out. We had planned on doing more hiking this summer, but our friend broke his foot. He was the one that planned a lot of our hiking trips up here because he knows the White…

Spring and Summer Plans For 2021

Spring and Summer Plans For 2021

Craig and I are enjoying our time here at The Disney Wilderness Preserve volunteering for the second time. We were planning on working at Yellowstone this summer, and had some good interviews and job offers set up. Then Covid cases started surging again and new strains started popping up. We are not sure when we will be able to get vaccinated. We would also have to travel though New Mexico and Colorado again to get to Wyoming. They have been…

Florida Panhandle State and National Parks

Florida Panhandle State and National Parks

Florida Rambler’s excellent blog post about beach camping in the Florida Panhandle http://www.floridarambler.com/florida-camping/beach-camping-in-florida-panhandle/ made me want to see some of the campgrounds there. That really was the start of planning our route to Yellowstone this summer. Here are some notes about each place we stayed. Saint George Island State Park -Beautiful beach with white sand and green-blue water. Softest sand-like baby powder. -Small sandy RV spots, but there are a few bigger sites with concrete pads. Must book 11 months…

Cody’s RV Park inWeeki Wachee, Florida

Cody’s RV Park inWeeki Wachee, Florida

After getting our jack replaced (due to a recall) at our dealer Lazydays in Tampa, we headed to Weeki Wachee, Florida for a few nights. I have never been, and Craig went when he was little. We have really enjoyed spending time at some of the Florida springs. They are very peaceful and low key compared to the Orlando parks! We visited Crystal Springs and the Three Sisters Springs NWR, Homosassa Springs and Weeki Wachee Springs/State Park. Because it was…

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake

Craig and I said farewell to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground at the beginning of January and headed to Bill Frederick Park near Universal Studios. It is a City of Orlando park and has only 36 RV spots. They also have cabins and tent sites. Our site has partial hook ups, so electric and water, but no sewer. We have been using the bathhouse bathrooms and showers. They are old, but clean. We did purchase a 42 gallon “blue boy” portable…

RV Holiday Decorating

RV Holiday Decorating

Note: Be sure to visit the other links below for more of the “Christmas in the Camper 2017” series. We are one of 15 RV bloggers participating! You may think RVers would not decorate much for the holidays. Before we moved into our travel trailer full time, we downsized a lot. We did keep a few small bins of decorations (mostly unbreakable ones.) If you visit or camp at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground, you will see how some campers actually…

We Finally Found a Truck.

We Finally Found a Truck.

I feel like we have been looking for a tow vehicle for such a long time now. Finding a truck was actually harder than finding a travel trailer! Diesel trucks are very expensive here in the Massachusetts and New Hampshire area. I would do 150 mile searches every few days. We also looked in Florida since that is where we will be registering the truck and RV and living off and on. Since we bought the RV new, we  had…

We Bought an RV!

We Bought an RV!

Our RV shopping trip to Florida was a success! We went to look at several RV parks and a few RV dealers. We also went back and forth by email with some other dealers to make sure we were getting the best price we could. In the end we decided to order a new 2018 Grand Design Reflection 297RSTS from the factory. It will be ready for us to pick up in September. Grand Design seems to have a good…

Vintage Bazaar

Vintage Bazaar

We went to a Vintage Bazaar today in Salisbury, Massachusetts. I was in Airstream heaven because a lot of the vendors brought their campers.  We were looking for vintage camping gear, throws, old camp chairs and old kitchen linens. Not too many people had that type of stuff today, but we had fun looking around! I see a lot of the old Coleman camp gear and Pendleton blankets on Etsy now, but they are super pricey. We will keep checking…
