The Disney Wilderness Preserve

The Disney Wilderness Preserve

We have been volunteering here at The Disney Wilderness Preserve for The Nature Conservancy since the end of October. It is going well. In exchange for around 28 hours a week, we get a full hook up RV spot, laundry, WiFi and the use of off road vehicles and tools. We don’t work every week. It is an odd schedule of 2 days on/3 days off, 2 days on/3 days off, 2 days on/9 days off. That way workampers can…

RV Holiday Decorating

RV Holiday Decorating

Note: Be sure to visit the other links below for more of the “Christmas in the Camper 2017” series. We are one of 15 RV bloggers participating! You may think RVers would not decorate much for the holidays. Before we moved into our travel trailer full time, we downsized a lot. We did keep a few small bins of decorations (mostly unbreakable ones.) If you visit or camp at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground, you will see how some campers actually…

Snowbirding

Snowbirding

Craig and I have been having a great time here at Walt Disney World. Other than the stolen bike incident and a lot of Lake Midges due to tons of rain, it has been fun! Craig has been doing some seasonal work for Disney PR and I have been working on a long term research project.  During our free time we swim, bike and walk a lot in the parks. Food and Wine has been going on at Epcot and…

Whirlwind!

Whirlwind!

So it has been a whirlwind three weeks, but we are finally settling in. Our road trip down to Florida was beautiful even though it was rushed. I am so glad we saw Shenandoah, the Great Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Savannah and Charleston! I can highly recommend all of them.  There were some hiccups along the way. We hit a huge pothole in NJ that cost us $400+ due to a back wheel issue. We could not fit…

September Trip Planning

September Trip Planning

The past few weeks we have been busy getting rid of furniture on local groups and selling things on Ebay. We are trying to get rid of as much stuff as we can before our September launch date.  In between work projects, I have been planning our September route down to Florida and our Florida to Wyoming route for March/April 2018.  We hope to travel down to Florida with just the truck and pick up the travel trailer there. I…

Another Quick Update

Another Quick Update

Craig and I decided to try and keep our original plans to start full time RVing this fall. We are going to take a trip to Florida in May to look at several RV dealers, a few RV parks and see what seasonal positions may be opening up for the fall/winter season.  We have been busy clearing out our living space. Every day we sell, give away and donate clothing and other items. Furniture will be listed in August. We…

Disney and the National Parks

Disney and the National Parks

While I was writing a blog post yesterday about our Florida trip, I had some thoughts. I know a lot of people that travel often and visit many natural places do not like the Disney parks. They find them “fake” and “commercialized.” I have always loved the Disney parks, movies and TV shows and find them to be an experience in Americana and American history.  The first time Craig and I visited Yellowstone, the way it was run seemed so…

Back From a Week in Florida

Back From a Week in Florida

We just had a nice relaxing week in Orlando visiting friends and family. The weather was perfect-80 and sunny most days. It cooled down to 60’s at night. We visited some of our other favorite parks, the Disney parks. Epcot’s new Festival of the Arts was a lot of fun. There were food booths, art displays, artist signings, classes, Broadway singers and living statues.  When we got back this O Magazine was in the mail! We are going to look…

Getting Ready For Our Florida Road Trip

Getting Ready For Our Florida Road Trip

We are getting ready to leave for our Florida National Parks road trip soon. First, we are flying into Fort Lauderdale and staying in Key Largo and Key West. We will visit Biscayne National Park, Everglades National Park, Dry Tortugas National Park and hopefully Pigeon Key National Historic Site. When we drive back up and across Florida, we will visit more of the Everglades, Big Cypress National Preserve and Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. We are finishing up at Walt…
